- Summary
In Sanskrit, the word Himalaya means "Homeland of Snow." Each year, a great many devoted pilgrims from around the globe travel to this internationally-renowned, towering "Roof of the World" to conduct spiritual journeys demanding exceptional courage and willpower. Without advanced climbing equipment, and carrying only simple clothing and food, Supreme Master Ching Hai was largely sustained by her pure faith in the Almighty Power of the universe during her own Himalayan pilgrimage. In video/audio 588, Master's Pilgrimage to the Himalayas, viewers hear Master's enchanting and humorous narrative on her arduous yet exhilarating experiences as a lone female pilgrim in India, including a karma-cleansing dip in the Ganges River, an exuberant Kumbha Mela gathering, a rare initiation conducted by the Dalai Lama, potential dangers from wild animals, poisonous insects and inclement weather, a seven-day meditation retreat on a holy island in Rishikesh, and a tender but poignant reunion with a beloved friend from the past. All these and other exquisite stories are recounted in this engaging discourse given by Supreme Master Ching Hai. |
