- Summary
The Bible says by seeing the results, we will know the cause . Therefore, we know this method works when we practice well. Sometimes it is not just seeing the light (Guan Guang), but to see whether our heart is open or not, whether we feel secured and compassion and loving power, ; if yes, then we will know that our spiritual pracAtice is effective. If all we do every day is just seeing the light and hearing the sounds (Guan Guang and Guan Yin), yet our action, speech, and thoughts are not changed , what is the use of it ? Spiritual practice has many aspects. Some people open their wisdom, some see visions , some hear the sounds, some enter Samadhi , some develop love, some have faith and confidence in God and feel reliant on the Buddha and Bodhisattva, some develop their eloquence and wisdom. These are the results of their spiritual practice.
The Supreme Master Ching Hai also tells several meaningful stories: The Child's Two Heads tells us that we should not attach too much to our vows, but should judge the circumstances with our common sense and wisdom. The Little Bird And The Peasant tells that relying upon oneself is better than relying upon others. The Quan Yin Methos is to teach us how to rely upon ourselves , and it is best to practice by using our Self. The Two Brothers and The Crow reminds the initiates not to damage the group atmosphere or trouble the Master too much by seeking favorable karmic rewards, thus to avoid severe consequences.
Key Points :
1.The Earth Store Bodhisattva vowed that " I shall not attain Buddhahood until all the hells are empty." Is it possible to realize empty hells ?
2. Why should we not attach too much to our vows? If we swore gravely in the past not to leave a certain religion, what should we do when we find a better spiritual method later ?
3.Why relying upon others is not as good as relying upon oneself? How to rely upon oneself in spiritual practice? Why is it not good to practice with physical body? Why are there so many benefits to practice the Guan Yin Method?
4. Why can thousands of our initiates meditate together very diligently? Master pointed out that the Guan Yin Method is really effective, and it is a rare phenomenon in the world that thousands of practitioners can meditate together quietly and peacefully in our ashram.
5. How to train one's ability to concentrate , being able to see visions while doing things?
6. How do we know whether our spiritual practice method is truly powerful ? Why is the ability to meditate for a long time also an incredible power? Why is hearing the inner sound more important than seeing the light?
7. How to judge whether one's spiritual practice bears fruits or not? What are the different ways that the results of spiritual practice manifest?
8. Can we know our faith only through tests? Why will our faith naturally develop by practicing the Guan Yin Method?
9. Why will too much greed result in no gain at all? Why cannot Buddha and Bodhisattva save us when we ourselves do not have confidence?
10. Why must we must silently, and Master should respond silently, too? What consequences will be if we practice for material and physical purposes?
11. How can a spiritual practitioner receive merits and blessings? Master tells a story of an Indian Master to explain the lifelong benefits from taking just one look at a Master.
12.Why is spiritual practice without enlightenment sometimes also due to one's own problem but not their Master's problem? Master tells a story of a Chinese Zen Master and his disciple , in which the fierce disciple held a knife to force the Zen Master to give him enlightenment. How did the Zen Master respond? By this story, the Master encouraged fellow initiates to be the best disciples, and to be calmer and more peaceful when participating group meditation.
