- Summary
Highlights: Supreme Master Qing Hai reminds us with the example of Tolstoy's novel: if we do not know the past karma and interfere with other’s actions, those karmas will become ours, because we have caused more serious outcomes. One single thought or action, no matter how good it is, if it is done in ignorance, it will bring harm and a lot of troubles. If we are ignorant and do not understand past karmas, it will also be difficult for us to identify what is really good and what it really bad. Supreme Master also tells the story of King Zhou and Daji of Shang Dynasty in Granting Titles to gods, and explains that those we thought as the dearest and loveliest people in our lives may turn out to be our creditors, foes or enemies. Only through spiritual practice and the understanding of karma can we distinguish between good and bad.
The great spiritual practitioners are healers themselves. Our illness will be healed once we see them; if our so-called karma is not too heavy, we will get well instantly. There’s no need to say anything at all; we will be healed by hearing his name or seeing his pictures, or even meeting his disciple. These are some of the healing methods. Sometimes the best healing method is not to see the doctor or the doctor with supernatural powers, but to know about our past. Sometimes our illness will heal automatically once we know about our past. After we know it, a kind of healing power will originate from our memory, body or spirit to save ourselves. This is the best and most eternal way. If we do not know about the past, we will not be able to deal with many problems.
If we can make up our mind every minute to do good things and go in the right direction no matter how difficult it is, or how many tests we have to go through, and if we can always do that, we will become stronger and stronger, go in the better direction, and then we will have less bad traits and bad habits. That’s why we are human. If we go in the bad direction, then we will become worse. It’s our decision. God cannot decide for us, neither can Buddha help us, because we have wisdom inside.
