Naropa meditated according to  his Master’s instruction.  He saw inner visions,  but he was not attached to them. He had the experience  of instant  liberation and exclaimed : “When I rely on my Master, it is same  as relying on a ship. My Master is like a pearl, a Mani bead that makes me feel secure and able to be liberated. By  practicing this method, one can obtain  complete happiness.”

   Naropa followed his Master and walked to a pond full of leech.  His Master said, “If I had a real good disciple, he would build a bridge for me to go across  it.” Upon hearing this, Naropa began to build the bridge immediately.

   There’s a  kind of maze in China that everything looks  real in there. As you’re confused and seduced,  it’s too late when you realize the truth . His Master said,” Our world is like  that maze of confusion, we’re all deluded by illusions  and thinking that these people and things are  real. Then we  chase them  and leave our soul .” 

   Then his Master taught him about the  feelings and visions in  meditation.  However, the Master told him  slowly, step by step. Not until he was punished for the fourth time did his Master started talking a little about the visions . His Master may be teaching him  the convenient method and did not explain it clearly at the beginning,;Not until his Master burned him with  fire did he  teach Naropa  about the different visions  and feelings personally.
