As human beings, we should abide by the Five Precepts. But just abiding by the Five Precept doesn't make us saints because the Precepts are only the basic standards for being humans. The Five Precepts are as follows: refrain from killing, refrain from stealing, refrain from speaking untruthful words, refrain from sexual misconduct, and refrain from cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. They are meant to protect us, to protect our morality, our health and peace in society. To become saints, there are a lot more requirements. So, as human beings, we don’t just abide by the Precepts; we have to adopt a loving diet and also help other people.
