  • Summary

Sometimes we can also see light even if we have not been practicing, even if we have not been meditating. But either the light or the inner sound we can hear or see only for an instant, not continuously. There are two kinds of light – one is… and the other one…. But without the guidance of an enlightened master we are not able to understand and discern between the real…

What is heaven? Heaven is a place where is much happiness than bitterness. Only the Buddha’s land is the best place, where there is only bliss, and no suffering at all. As to our world, it has happiness and sorrow, therefore it has negativity and positivity. A great practitioner belongs to the positive side because he has virtues, light and power which can save the sentient beings, can make the good and evil forces in the world become more balanced. He and his disciples practice strictly to bring more Light into the world, so that the evil deeds of the living beings will not increasingly darken the world and turn it into hell.

In all Buddhist sutras Shakyamuni Buddha emphasized that we should not kill, should not eat living being’s meat. He said, “Those practitioners who eat meat will not become Buddhas, will not become Bodhisattvas… Therefore the highest of them can only achieve the fruition of king of Maya at the most, the second the male subjects of Maya, and the lowest the female subjects of Maya.”

1.Why do the monks in India generally wear the yellow robes? What does that color represent?

2.Even children love bright and luminous things. Why are those places for entertainment, like bars, restaurants, mostly decorated in resplendent variegated colors in order to draw more attention.

3.The light of common people is usually very dark and black, and of some others it’s in coffee, blue, people, or red. What kind of colors will great spiritual practitioners have?

4.The inner Light of great spiritual practitioners will radiate its power, which can save us, protect us, and bless his relatives. Yet, why would Jesus Christ get crucified? Why did Shakyamuni Buddha encounter many troubles such as people throwing stones?

5.Why can the Light of great spiritual practitioners give others a very soothing feeling; while those with evil-mind or heavy hindrance may not be able to endure and feel uncomfortable, to whom it’s better to keep at a distance, otherwise once they draw near they feel uncomfortable?

6.Why would the dark influences accumulated over many lifetimes be cast away instantaneously?

7.What is the difference between the Buddha’s Light and the lights of our physical world?

8.Why is that we should look for this inner Light? Can’t we do without practice, without looking for this Light?

9.If we want to find this Light, how can we do? Where can we find the Light? Can we really see the Light or attain the Light?

10.How can we know if we ourselves are enlightened or not? What is the proof?

11.Why do all past great masters still have to make pilgrimages through mountains and rivers in order to seek a living master for their own enlightenment?

This inspiring discourse was recorded during the early years before Supreme Master Ching Hai began to give public lectures. We offer to all truth-seekers who can appreciate this sharing with sincerity, although the quality of recording was less than perfection due to limited preparation and lack of advanced equipment at that time. Please pardon us for imperfect audio quality at times.
