  • Summary

Mulian, as one of the great disciples by the side of Shakyamuni Buddha, could not save his stingy and greedy mother from hell even if he had a great magical power. Buddha was able to transform and help her only when she longed from her heart and prayed for Buddha’s help inside.

Buddha said, “One can only be saved by himself, not by others.” Supreme Master Ching Hai also often says to us, "The help comes from ourselves. Master hasn’t done much to help you. Master can’t do anything without your own asking; Master can’t pass the Dharma to you if you don’t respect it; Master can’t help you if you don’t believe in Master. Bodhisattvas are very free, allowing all sentient beings to do things willingly and initiatively, never forcing them to practice spiritually. They should learn their own lessons, and do what they should do only when time is up. Therefore, any sentient being is Bodhisattva."

The Earth we live on is very beautiful and precious. If nobody in this world practices spiritually and morality collapses, those great masters who have been living in the Himalayas for billions of years will also be affected, and cannot stay there to do their job to protect the universe. We can protect the safety of the Earth by practicing the Quan Yin Method. As more and more people practice the Quan Yin Method, the atmosphere will change and people will become more kind, more virtuous and more stable, and there will be no disasters.
