Regardless if we aspire to practice spiritually or not, we should not kill sentient beings. We should have compassion! This is the most important thing. It’s useless to seek spiritual practice without perfecting our moral virtues. We should practice both. Otherwise, we cannot attain anything, but to succumb to Maya. Maya also has a lot of power and magic abilities. But Maya is not perfect because he is still in lack of compassion. Maya has to reincarnate through the cycle of life and death to learn the lesson of compassion. Until the lesson is complete, he will then be perfect with power, compassion, benevolence as well as supernatural abilities. If we don't have compassion, we have to reincarnate again and again to learn this lesson. Only until we finish learning the lesson of compassion can we attain Buddhahood and be liberated completely.
This inspiring discourse was recorded during the early years before Supreme Master Ching Hai began to give public lectures. We offer to all truth-seekers who can appreciate this sharing with sincerity, although the quality of recording was less than perfection due to limited preparation and lack of advanced equipment at that time. Please pardon us for imperfect audio quality at times.
