  • Summary

There was a joke, the disciple asked the Zen Master, “Master, I ask for nothing, I just ask you please bring me to the land of eternal peace.” And the Master said, “Yeah, even if I can, it won’t be peace anymore.” Looks like he knows. The Master knows everything. And there was a film called “Lost Horizon” also. And they found a place called Shangri-La, the lost people. They found a place called Shangri-La, they call it “Lost Horizon.” They said, “Oh, it’s peaceful here, if the world people would know here, it’s so peaceful!” They said, “If the world people know, if they come here, there will be no more peace, no more peace, no.”

This is a story of when the Buddha was alive with reference to Punna, a bondswoman of the treasurer of Rajagariha. The story goes that one day, she pounded rice away untill late at night. Punna saw the monks making their way along the mountain. She thought to herself, “How come the monks couldn’t sleep? It must be that some monk who resides there is sick, or else is suffering from the bite of some reptile.”When Punna saw the the Buddha, He said to her: “My disciples are assiduously watchful and therefore they do not sleep.”At the conclusion of the lesson, Punna was established in the fruit of stream entry.
